Arguably, based on in-ring talent, the top wrestler in the world when signed. He’s done less there than Nakamura when he signed with WWE.

I truly believe Okada would have been presented as a top of the card main event star immediately and probably a heavyweight champion by now.

Yeah, this is a complete downgrade from his stint in NJPW. He was essentially what The Rock was to WWF/E in NJPW. Now…he’s among a stable housing a group of randoms while carrying a title literally made for him so he doesn’t have to go without a belt.

新日本時代からは完全な格下げだ。新日本での彼は、言うなればWWEにおけるザ・ロックみたいな存在だった。それが今や……寄せ集め集団の一員で、「ベルト無しだと格好がつかないから」という理由で彼のために作られたタイトルを持たされているだけ。

Or he gives them one of four midcard belts so they “have a belt” but float around. It’s one of the good examples of cargo cult belting. You’re not a nobody if you “have a title”… Okada had, I think, one whole feud in two years with the company. Though he does occasionally call people bitch.

Forget the World Title, he’s never even won a singles title in AEW, despite there being four of them. WWE at least gave him the US Title once. There’s not really any good faith argument someone could make that he’s done better in AEW than he did in WWE.

Funny thing is, Okada gets to win all the time because he was slotted into his higher spot, but he also feels like no threat nor like he’s a possibility to join the main event scene.

You know it’s not actually that AEW poaches all the talent. […] every single NJPW guy is booked like a geek. Twice, I think? / Jay White – Midcarder who lost to Billy Gunn and lost to a one legged MJF. The lesson here is NJPW guys are geeks and dorks.

I was actually a fan of Jay White (still rooting for him) but the two matches you mentioned have absolutely killed his career. That was basically the end of my hope for AEW being even semi-decent.

His AEW gimmick is literally everything they said his WWE gimmick would be except they unironically like it.

I heard & saw people bitching about how Cesaro was mistreated by McMahon & should have been a top star & world champion. We are now in a 5-year AEW run, not only he never main evented one of their PPVs 1 on 1, but never won the world title either. But no one ever mentions that.
